Advice and counselling on family matters generally

This page gives you information about advice or counselling on family matters. It tells you about the different sorts of advice provided by different professionals to help you resolve your difficulties and how you can obtain this advice. You may find it helpful to seek more than one sort of advice.

There is also a list of specialist organisations, which provide advice and counselling about particular issues.

There may be a charge for these services.

Public funding for legal services and court proceedings may be available for those on a low income or in receipt of some state benefits.  Local Authority Social Services Departments also provide some services without charge and do not charge those in receipt of some state benefits for services. Where you do not qualify for free services you will have to pay.
